Background
The global alcoholic beverage market was worth $1,439 billion in 2017 and is expected to grow to $1,684 billion by 2025.
Over 53% of Canadians say that they drink cider.
Canadian cider market grows rapidly, as consumers are increasingly looking for new experiences and turn towards local craft producers.
Challenge
• Research the industry standards and identify the main trends in packaging design.
• Identify the target audience and their preferences.
• Create a beverage design following the fundamental principle of good packaging design: prevent more waste than it creates.
Solution
67% of drinkers are 18-34-year-old (7 out of 10 are Millennials).
Gender: 54% of men and 52% of women.
The main group of consumers (61%) prefers sweet ciders with flavours, such as peach, berry or tropical. They believe that the taste and price are important and prefer local brands.
My research results have revealed that aluminum cans are the most recycled beverage container at a rate of 69% worldwide.
Aluminum packaging has many advantages over plastics, like a longer shelf life, higher durability, lower impact on the environment and easier recycling.
